Find the y-intercept please.

I am doing a math project and I got a problem like this: (-5,-11); average rate of change = 1/5. I know that the average rate of change is slope. I was wondering if there was any way to do this without graphing it. If you know, can you please do a step by step for me? Thanks. (This is for 7/8 Math)

Not sure that "do this" means. This is for deriving equation.
y = x/5 + b      slope-intercept form
-11 = -5/5 + b  substitute ordered pair
-11 = -1 + b    simplify
-10 = b

y = x/5 - 10
