An equation is linear (degree one polynomial) if it's in the form y = mx + b...i.e. if the highest degree of variable x is one.

You need to try very hard to understand my answer. Knowing what the degree of a polynomial is will help. YOUR function is of degree three (involving x cubed) so that is not degree one, i.e. NOT LINEAR. Therefore the rest of the question is inapplicable, as written.
