Question

a rectangular pool is 18 feet wide and 12 feet long. the owner of the pool will create a rectangular walkway, 2 feet wide, around the pool. what is the area of the walkway?

Area of pool = 18(12) = 216 feet²

Length and width with walkway:

Width = 20, Length = 14

Area of pool and walkway = 20(14) = 280 feet²

Area of walkway = 280 - 216 = 64 feet²
