the vertex form is y = a(x-h)2 + k
solve for h
y-k = a(x-h)2
(y-k)/a = (x-h)2
√[(y-k)/a] = x-h
h = x - √[(y-k)/a] this is the answer using the principal square root
h = x + √(y-k)/a is choice A but it is not proper to use the negative square root so I would say none of the choices are correct.
