In this question you need a common denominator. 2/3 needs to have a 9 as a denominator. In order to get that you need to multiply 2/3 by 3/3 (3/3=1). This will give you a common denominator
2/3 x 3/3 = 6/9
put 6/9 into the equation
15/9 - 6/9 = 9/9
9/9 = 1
