true - since the earth rotates eastward but the opposite (or clockwise) from the south pole

As viewed from the north pole star Polaris, Earth turns counterclockwise.  This perspective is from above the North Pole.
 
"as viewed from the North Pole" is ambiguous.  A person standing on the North Pole would turn with the Earth (so would see no Earth rotation), but would see the stars move clockwise relative to the Earth.
