how to solve "find y when x=1 & x=3'

im in 8th grade and just stared algebra 1 i dont understand this type of question

You should have an equation for y such as y = 2x + 7.  When you are asked to find y when x = 1, just replace the x with 1 and compute the value of y.

y = 2x + 7  Find y when x = 1:

y = 2*(1) + 7
y = 2 + 7
y = 9

Is there a y equation in your problem?
