x2 - 24 = (x - √24)(x + √24) = 0
 
x = ±√24 = ±√(23·3) = ±2√6

This down-vote is frivolous and unjustified.  The answer is correct.  Just substitute
 
x = ±2√6
 
into 
 
x2 - 24 = 0
 
and see that it is the correct solution.
