Using this value for "x", solve for "y" using either original equation (we will use the first one):

                                                3(30/11)-y=9

                                                 90/11-y=9

                                                 90/11-9=y

                                                 90/11-99/11=y

                                                 -9/11=y

Because the first equation was used to find both "x" and "y", check these values in the second equation to see if it holds true:

                                                 5(30/11)+2(-9/11)=12

                                                 150/11+(-18/11)=12
