All you would really have to do in this situation is pick some values for x, substitute them into the equation for x and solve for y.
Example;
Let's take your original equation of y=2x+10 and pick values for x, I am going to choose -1, 0, and 1.
Next, we will plug these values in for x and solve for y as follows
x = -1
y = 2(-1) +10--Using PEMDAS, simplify by first multiplying (-1) and 2
y = -2 + 10==>Now combine like terms
y = 8==>Solution (-1, 8)
Therefore when I substitute (-1) in for x, I get a y value of 8 ==> (-1, 8)
Now let's substitute 0 in for x
x = 0
y = 2(0) + 10==>Multiply
y = 0 + 10==>Combine like terms
y = 10==> Solution (0, 10)
Finally, lets substitute 1 in for x
x = 1
y = 2(1) + 10==>Multiply
y = 2 + 10==>Combine like terms
y = 12==>Solution (1, 12).
Repeat this as many times as you wish for any given linear equation, however, it should be noted that you will only need 2 points to graph a linear equation.
