gabe amodeo a nuclear physicist needs 60 liters of a 40%acid solution. he currently has a 20% solution and a 50% solution. how many liters of each does he need to make the 60 liters of 40% acid solution?

a + b = 60 -------> a = 60 - b

20a + 50b = 40(60)

 

20(60 - b) + 50b = 2400

1200 - 20b + 50b = 2400

30b = 1200

b = 40

 

a = 60 - 40

a = 20
