     What part of the circle is being shaded?  Is the inner smaller circle shaded, or is it the tire area around the smaller circle?  I would be happy to help you further, but that information is important.

This is a doughnut hole problem.

The area of the large circle is (2.5)²π

The area of the hole is (1.5)²π

 

6.25π - 2.25π = 4
