A container when filled with water weighs 2kg and when 1/4(fraction) filled weighs 800g. Find the weight of the empty container.

1/4 filled weight:           800 g

 

Removing 3/4 of the water removes 2000 - 800 = 1200 g of weight

 

(3/4)water = 1200 grams

water = 1200(4/3)

water = 1600 grams

 

The full container weighs 2000 grams

The water weights 1600 grams

The container weighs 2000 - 1600 = 400 grams
