In a carpark, there are 5 times as many cars as motorcycles. There are a total of 264 wheels. How many cars are there in the car park.

let's assume 4 wheels per car, 2 wheels per motorcycle.

total wheels = 264 = 4c + 2 m  where c & m are numbers of cars & motorcycles, respectively,

but c = 5m.

 

so you have two linear equations & two unknowns. solve, probably by substitution.
