The method to solve this is just to substitute whatever is in the parentheses for x in the original function.
ex. f(x) = 3x - 4 and you need f(5)
f(5) = 3(5)-4 = 15 - 4 = 11
As written, the equation is:
g(x) = (1/3)x - 9
g(6) = (1/3)(6) - 9 = -7
g(a) = (1/3)a - 9 = a/3 - 9
g(6) + g(a) = -7 + a/3 - 9 = ____?
