There are three steps to this problem. First, you need to convert the percentage to a fraction. Next, you need to reduce that fraction. Finally, you need to convert the fraction to a mixed number.
To translate a percentage to a fraction, remember that % or "per cent" means "per 100." So, 125% means 125 per 100. That just means you take 125 and divide by 100, so you have your fraction: 125/100.
The problem asks for a mixed number in simplest form, so we want to reduce our fraction as much as we can. To do that, we divide by the greatest common factor (or GCF) of the numerator and the denominator. For 125 and 100, the GCF is 25. If we divide the numerator and denominator of 125/100 by 25, we get 5/4.
If you want to convert this fraction to a mixed number, all you have to do is actually do the division, and then write the remainder over the denominator. When we divide 5 by 4, We see that 4 divides into 5 once, and then we have a remainder of 1. So, our answer is 1 and 1/4.
