Hello Abraham, so the problem is asking if Mike (or me if you prefer) walks 5 miles in 2 hours, how many miles will we walk in 7 hours?. We can set up a ratio because we know Mike will keep walking at the same pace.

So we get  (5 miles) divided by (2 hours) = (x miles) divided by (7 hours). Please write this on paper in fraction to make sense of this.

In order to solve for x, all we have to do is multiply both sides by 7, so we get 7 hours times ( 5 miles divided by 2 hours). 

Don't worry about the hours and miles, just focus on the numbers. So we're just doing 7 times 5 divided by 2 which 35 

divided by 2 which 17.5 miles.

To make sense of this, divide 5 by 2, and we see that he's walking at 2.5 mph. If we divide 17.5 by 7, we still get 2.5 mph!
