It's a system of two linear equations. As far as I am concerned, use ANY convenient method.
ELIMINATION would work nicely if you first multiply 2nd equation by two, throughout, and then add to 1st equation, thus eliminating y. (This is also called the Addition method, often.)
SUBSTITUTION is a good way, because the second equation can be easily manipulated to give x = 2-4y...When you do that substitution (for x in 1st equation), that eliminates "x".
When you know what one variable is, you can then use either equation to figure the second variable, and thus you can write the ORDERED pair of coordinates of the one point that satisfies both equations. (Intersection of two lines.)
