SHi Tatiana,
Allow the following to help put an equation together:
x <-----------------------------Less expensive land
x + 22012 <-----------------------------More expensive land
Together the two add up to 159,488
Therefore:
x + x + 22,012 = 159,488
Subtract both sides of equation by 22,012 which leaves 2 x on left side: Therefore:
2x = 137,4766
x = 68, 738
Proof our work:
Since x = 68,738 and,
x + 22,012 =
68,738 + 22012 = 90,750
68,738 (least expensive land) + 90,750 (more expensive land) = $159,488
Hope this helps and have a great day today.
