how do you make a 4X4 magic square that equals 12

My son has to make a 4x4 magic square that equals 12 vertically horizontally and diagonally using integers. We have no idea how to do this.

The 4 x 4 magic square MUST contain the number 1,2,3,4,....,12,13,14,15,16.

The rows containing 12,13,14,15,16 will total more than 12, as well as some others.

 

Here is a magic square that totals 34

The only way to get 12 is to include small numbers and 

negative numbers. With that being said, we have a

freedom to choose whatever numbers we like
