One sixth of 9 ft is 1.5 ft, which is 18 inches.

3/5 inch is 0.6 inches per book.

 

Let n = # of books placed side by side, each 0.6 width; then n(0.6) = 18

Therefore n = 18/0.6 which is the same as 180/6, and that quotient is n=30 books.
