Try substituting. Since the tank loses 5 liters each hour, substitute 1 for t in each equation. Which ones give you 5 for w? Now substitute 2 for t. In 2 hours the tank will lose 10 liters (5+5), so which equation gives you 10 for w? Now you have your answer.

A water tank has a leak. Each hour it loses 5 liters of water.
Determine which of these statements can be used to find the water the tank lost over time.
Answer Choices
A. Let w=5×t where w represents water lost and 5×t represents the product of the rate per hour and the amount of time for which water is lost.
B. Let w=5+t where w represents water lost and 5+t represents the sum of the rate of loosing water and amount of time .
C. Let w=5−t where w represents water lost and 5−t represents the amount of time .
D. Let w=5÷t where w represents water lost and 5÷t represents the rate per hour.
