Hi, for homework my teacher gave me this and I am confused, it says in bold print a few questions above it saying "Write an algebraic expression for each verbal expression"

19 less than:   this means we are going to subtract 19 from something

 

3 times a number:  pick a variable to represent the number and multiply

                            that by 3 ...    3x

 

Your algebraic expression is:   3x - 19
