(i)    P = 2(L + W) = 98

 

(ii)   A = LW = 360

 

(iii)  L = 4W + 4

 

Only 2 of the 3 equations above are independent.  Working with (i) and (iii),

 

98 = 2[(4W + 4) + W] = 2(5W + 4) = 10W + 8

98 = 10W + 8

W = (98 - 8)/10 = 9

 

W = 9 cm

 

L = 4(9) + 4 = 40

 

L = 40 cm

 

Note that 

 

LW = 9(40) = 360 = A,   

 

so the answers agree with (i).
