if it takes 4 hours for 10 workers to mend a road, how long would it take for 8 workers?

4 hours for 10 workers means 1 worker

would take 40 hours ... each worker does

1/40 of the job per hour 

 

8 workers will do 8/40 or 1/5 per hour

so it will take 5 hours for 8 workers to

do the job.
