Line ℓ1 has the equation - x+y= - 4 and line ℓ2 has the equation y=x–2. Find the distance between ℓ1 and ℓ2.

Since the lines have the same slope, which is one, they are parallel lines.

One of the lines has a y-intercept of -4; while the other one has a y-intercept of -2.

Therefore, the two lines are two units apart.
