Hi Chanaz, here is the start:

 

Set up the system of equations:

 

5x  -  4y  = -10

3x  + 2y  =  16

-----------------

 

Solve by elimination:

 

If you multiply the second equation by 2, the y terms will cancel leaving only the x terms.

 

5x  - 4y = -10
6x + 4y =  32
-----------------

 

11x = 22
