Yes, 2000 was a leap year. I found a calendar and explanation at this link:

The rule is the year is a leap year IF the year is divisible by 4.
But if the year is divisible by 100, then it is NOT a leap year
unless it is divisible by 1000.
So centennial years are not
leap years but millenium years are
