From the information we can set up two equations as follows:
Let x = Billy's score
Let y = Barb's score
y = 2x + 10
x + y = 218
We can substitute 2x+10 in place of y in 2nd equation to solve for x
x + 2x + 10 = 218
3x + 10= 218
3x = 208
x = 208/3 = 69 1/3
From this we can find Barb's score by multiplying by 2 and then
adding 10 to the product.
However; I think you have a misprint in your problem statement since
it is not really possible for Billy to have a fractional score in a bowling game.
