Question

If you need .75 pounds of cheese to top a pizza, and you have 4 pounds of cheese at home, will you have enough to make 6 pizzas? Write an inequality where p = pizzas.

pounds/(pounds per pizza) = pizzas

 

p = 4/.75 = 5 1/3 pizzas

 

We cannot make 6 pizzas.

if you want to make pizzas under this condition, then p pizzas will require this amount of cheese: ¾(p) ≤ 4.

Solve for p.  The answer will be NO; do you see why? (Although if you ignore the strict requirement, you can stretch it to 6 pizzas just slightly less cheesy).
