If the coefficient of x² is positive, the parabola is concave up, and its vertex is a minimum.  If the coefficient of x² is negative, the parabola is concave down, and its vertex is a maximum.  In this problem, you will have a 3x² term, so the parabola is concave up, and the vertex is a minimum.
