First thing I'd do is get that kid out of that school. A pint = a pound (if it's water) = 453.6 g = 0.4536 L. The answer given by Kenneth S is appropriate for a student's answer: it's a little less than half a liter. As the kid moves on in school (ANOTHER ONE!), he'll learn that a liter is about 10% more than a quart.
