By applying the rules for natural logarithms, how could 2ln|x| be expressed so that the absolute value symbol is not required? Help?!

We know that alnx can be written as lnx^a. That is the property to use.

 

So 2ln |x| can be written as ln |x|², but now the absolute value symbol is not required because even if x is negative, after it is squared we will be taking the natural log of a postive number. So ln x² is likely the answer the question is asking for.
