I need help figuring out the equation.

Emmanuel bought 28lb of potting soil this week.  This amount is 4lb more than twice the amount of potting soil he bought last week. Find the numb erf pounds of soil he purchased last week. I have a-d to answer as well.

b) Let p represent the unknown info.  Write an equation to model the problem.

c) Which number 10,11,or 12 will solve the equation in Part (b) show your work

d) how many pounds of potting soil did Emmanuel buy last week?

a).  p = amount of potting soil bought last week.

       This is the unknown.

 

b).  2p + 4 = 28

 

c and d have the same answer.

 

From the equation subtract 4 from both

sides, then divide both sides by 2 to solve

for p
