Common multiples are numbers that both
of the original numbers will divide evenly
into.
Example: common multiples of 3 and 4:
First find the least common multiple, LCM, of 3 and 4:
3, 6, 9, 12, 15
4, 8, 12, 16
The LCM is 12.
Common multiples of 3 and 4 will be the multiples
of 12:
12, 24, 36, 48, ...
The least common multiple of 3 and 15
is 15 since it is the smallest number that
both 3 and 15 divide into.
Since 3 goes into 15 ... 3(5)=15... then
any multiple of 15 will be a common multiple
of 3 and 15.
