1.If I invest $10,000 at 5% compounded monthly, how much will I have in 8 years? Choose the closest answer.

2..What is the equation of a line through (-1, 4) and (-2, 7)?

3..What is the vertex of f(x) = x2 + 3x + 2?

1)    10000*(1.05)^96 = 1081864.10

 

2)  Slope M = (7-4)/(-2 - -1) = 3/-1 = -3

 

      The equation of the line is y = mX + b

       So intercept B = y - Mx where M = -3, x = -1, and y = 4 

      B = 4 - (-3)(-1) = 4 - 3 = 1

 

    the equation is y = (-3)X + 1

 

3) (x  +  2)(x  + 1 )=0

    so the roots are -1 and -2

 

    the mirror line axis of reflection is at x=-1.5

 

    (-1.5)^2 + 3(-1.5) + 2 = 2.25 - 4.5 + 2 =

                                       -0.25

 

    The vertex is at (-1.5, -0.25)
