asked 08/06/17if a single number is in a parenthesis and there's an exponent outside of it, what do i do fam??
for example (3) to the power of 2 ... pls help this is literally a 126 question packet and it's due in 2 days :')

A single number in parenthesis that is raised to an exponent
is just that number raised to the indicated power: (x)n = xn
(3)2 = 32 = 3*3 = 9
(3)4 = 34 = 3*3*3*3 = 81
is just that number raised to the indicated power: (x)n = xn
(3)2 = 32 = 3*3 = 9
(3)4 = 34 = 3*3*3*3 = 81
(3)²
The above notation means to raise the base, which is 3, to the 2nd power. In other words, multiply 3 * 3 = 9
If the problem were (3)³, then you would raise 3 to the 3rd power, or multiply 3 * 3 * 3 = 27
