Ask yourself how many seconds are in one minute. The answer is 60 seconds. If you make $1 in 60 seconds, then how much is that per second?

 

1/60 = 0.016............

Since 1 minute is 60 seconds, 1 second is 1/60 of a minute.  Therefore, in 1 second you would 1/60 of what you make in a minute.  You can set this up as a proportion:

 

(1 second) / (60 seconds) = (x dollars) / (1 dollar) 

 

x = (1/60)($1.00) = $0.01666... ≅ $0.02

 

You would make a little less than 2 cents per second.
