Calculus Question

Find the slope of the tangent to y = 3x^2-6x at x =2 by first determining the derivative of the function from first principles.

Doug C.

My guess is that "determining derivative from first principles" was meant to imply finding the limit as h->0 of the difference quotient. Directions for the problem not what I would call "precise". Since Don asked for an explanation on how to get the 6x-6 perhaps he has not yet learned the power rule?

And where is your demonstration using "first principles?"
