As an explanation of notation:
x-2 is a way of writing 1/x2 [negative exponents mean positive exponents in the denominator]
-x means the opposite (negative) of x
Now, if you mean "difference" as in subtraction:
x-2 - (-x) is how to write the difference
so, 1/x2 - (-x)
1/x2 + x [distribute the implied (-1)]
