I keep seeing the same mistakes on the answers to these standard form questions. There are a few rules to keep in mind once you have x and y on the same side.
1. A and B should both be integers, so, if necessary, multiply both sides by the least common multiple of all the denominators.
2. A should be positive. If you rearrange your equation and it is negative, just multiply both sides by -1.
3. The equation should be completely factored. If necessary, divide both sides by the greatest common factor of A, B, and C.
