Daoism Question

Daoism teaches that people should base their behavior on the Dao, the way of nature. In other words, humans should go with the flow with nature. What happens on Earth happens for a reason. Thus, humans should not focus on their personal ambitions and be trying to change the world for better or worse. Is my understanding of Daoism correct?

Also, I read in a book that wuwei, a Daoist concept, means disengagement from worldly affairs. What is meant by worldly affairs? Can you please give examples? Thanks.

Was my understanding of Daoism correct? The first paragraph of my inquiry?

And for the second part, so, would a Daoist discourage people from trying to be athletes? Trying to be wealthy? Or even engaging in political activism? In other words, discourage personal ambition or civic engagement to improve society?

Overall your synopsis of Daoism is correct.  However it is quite flexible and focused on the enjoyment of life so for a matter of athleticism, if it done out of joy as opposed to ego it could be am admitted Taoist behavior.  Laboring to attain wealth, ambitious, and politically action would definitely be discouraged

So, just to clarify, having ambitions is a bad thing, according to wuwei? Sorry, I just wanted to clarify because you wrote "Laboring to attain....ambitious....." That kind of threw me off a bit.
