If x is the volume of the 20% alcohol solution, then you will have 200-x of the 60% alcohol solution.
Use the decimal version of each percentage in your equation: 48%=0.48; 20%=0.20; 60%=0.60
Set up an equation with one side as your final solution, and the other what you will be mixing. The end solution has 200 mL and a concentration of 48%:
(200)(0.48) = (x)(0.20) + (200-x)(0.60) simplify and distribute
96 = 0.20x + 120 - 0.60x combine like terms
-24 = -0.40x divide both sides by -0.40 to get x
60 = x
So we will have 60 mL of the 20% solution, and 140 of the 60% solution.
