how do i find the slope of a line paralell to y=3x+5?

y = 3x+5

is in "slope-intercept" form

y=mx + b

so, from inspection then, we see that the slope is 3.  That is:

m = 3

A line that is parallel to y=3x+5 MUST have the SAME slope (3).
