The formula for infinite geometric series is
 
Sn = a1 / (1-r)
 
Sn = Sum of the infinite series
a1 = First term in the sequence
r = common ratio (what you multiply to get each subsequent term)
 
In this series:
Sn = (27) / (1-(-1/3)) = 81/4
