Is math confusing? I've been in your shoes. Let me help!
Hi Lakisha,
Let's take a look at what we have. We know that both our prawns and fish together weigh 6 kg. I'm going to write it out in terms of grams so we're consistent throughout our calculations.
Prawns + Fish= 6kg= 6000g
1000g = 1 kg, so I multiplied 6 by 1000 to get our weight in grams.
Now, we know how many fish there are, and what each one weighs. Let's go ahead and find out how much all of the fish weigh together:
9 * 628= 5652 g
So, we now know how much all of the fish weigh. What we can now do is take the difference between the total weights of the fish and the prawn and the weights of the fish, to find out how heavy the prawns are:
Prawns + 5652g (the weight of the 9 fish)= 6000g
I'll subtract 5652 from each side, and we get:
Prawns= 348g
So, the weight of the prawns is 348 grams. I hope this helps!
