The volume of a rectangular prism = L x W x H

If these dimensions are represented by x, x + 2, and 2x - 3, then we have:

 

V = 1040 = x(x + 2)(2x - 3) 

 

x(x + 2)(2x - 3) = x(2x² + x - 6) = 2x³ + x² - 6x = 1040
