How do you an order list of the steps necessary to factor a trinomial quadratic equation (box and diamond)

 

Describe the shortcut for factoring "a" difference of squares "quadratic binomial -- and explain why it works

 

Describe why yo don't have to use the box and diamond method to factor 12x^2-16x

X² - Y² = (X-Y)(X+Y) is very basic "factoring a difference of squares"

 

12x²-16x is factored by isolating the Greatest Common Monomial Factor: = 4x(3x - 4).  It wasn't a trinomial.
