Mathematics - Algebra a Specialty / F.I.T. Grad - B.S. w/Honors
3(y-5)+2=5
subtract 2 from both sides
3(y-5)+2-2 = 5-2
3(y-5) = 3
divide both sides by 3
[3(y-5)/3] = 3/3
y - 5 = 1
add 5 to both sides
y - 5 + 5 = 1 + 5
y = 6
Check answer:
3(6-5)+2 = 5
3(1)+2 = 5
3+2 = 5
5 = 5
answer is correct
