I guess, you are saying that if you had 96 average before this exam and you got 0 in this exam, what would be the new average.
It would depend on the weightage. Let's say the exam you got 0 is the final and has 30% weight, then you new average would be 96*.70 + 0*.3 = 96*.7 = 67.2
Similarly if the final has 20% weightage, your new average would be 96*.8 = 76.8
